In short: tons of fun.
The idea was simple. A bunch of bands playing short sets of cover tunes. So we basically threw together a couple covers 2 days before the show. Can you guess the end result?
yeah it was kind of a mess. we managed to completely ruin 3 very good songs: Cream – “Tales of Brave Ulysses”, “SWLABR” and “Born Under A Bad Sign”. (To be thorough, “Born Under A Bad Sign” was written by Booker T. Jones – of the MG’s – and originally performed by Albert King. Nuts to the idea of playing a Cream set…)
Regardless, we had a blast. The other bands really tore some things up.
Joey Molinaro playing Discordance Axis
Cut Your Teeth playing Limp Bizkit (true).
Man’s Gin playing Nirvana.
Pyrrhon playing Death, Black Flag and Mahavishnu Orchestra
Check out some photos here.
I would be remiss if I didn’t highlight the fact that Joey Molinaro was completely incredible. We were entirely blown away.
In summary, big thanks to Curran for putting it together and inviting us down, all the other bands for being generally awesome to hang out with, and everyone who came out and spent Halloween looking stupid and eating x-rated cake.
Aside – we have some music that might be posted soon. Check back.
